Outreach

The CRPA is always interested in opportunities for outreach to the public in order to spread the word about watersheds, their importance, and what good stewardship means.  We want everyone to know more about the Cowpasture River and the headwaters region of Virginia.  We attend festivals and other events, bringing information and conversation to anyone who will listen.  With only one part-time staff member, we always need volunteers to help us by attending the display and talking up the Cowpasture and watershed conservation with the public.  Working at our display will give you a chance to enlighten others and/or hear their stories about the river.  You'll find that it's a small world.  Almost everyone you meet has a story about the Cowpasture and, through these conversations, we all learn more about its history, the families that grew up there, and the trials and tribulations of floods and environmental threats.  We also learn about what steps have been taken over the years to protect the river and keep her running clean.  Check the events listing to see where we'll be when, and if you'd like to come along as a spokesperson, you're more than welcome!  We need all of our citizens involved in maintaining this treasure we call the CpR.
